Whatis themost enjoyable about teaching?
Seeing people successfully use grammar/vocabularythat you've taught is very satisfying. It's nice to hear from people that they've begun to understand music or movies more, or the classes are helping them in some way. The social aspect is also great. Naturally, we speak a lot, and over the course the class really gets to know each other, so I get to meet a lot of interesting people and see a different culture through that, which is great.
Do you like teaching?
Yes, the process itself is very interesting, partly because foreigners ask questions about things and build sentences in ways that native speakers would never even think of. In that sense I'm seeing my own language through different eyes, and it's given me a new appreciation for English. It's quite fun figuring out why exactly we speak the way we do.The reverse is true as well - it's great when you see students "click" and understand how English is structured and used.
Which levels do you enjoy teaching?
Higher levels are more enjoyable to teach in my opinion. Students are more able to create complex sentences and express themselves, which makes conversations deeper and more interesting. The complexity of the grammar and nuances mean I get to play with the language more, not to mention needing to think of very clear examples to highlight these nuances. This is the part I enjoy most. The questions at high levels are also fascinating.

What does it mean to you to be a teacher?
Being a language teacher is helping your students understand the world in a different way. It means showing them new ways of expressing their wants, needs and ideas. It is also about helping the students building relationships with people from different cultures and getting them closer to unfamiliar traditions.
When you teach you need to figure out the best way to explain a new idea, choose the right words, the best examples, you also need to be able to show the beauty of the culture you represent. I decided to become a teacher because of my love for languages and culture, and I knew I could do a good job because I love interacting with people from different places and finding ways of communicating with them.
What is your ideal student?
My ideal student is a person who is open and curious, a person who is ready to take on new challenges and enjoy the process. It is great to work with students that show enthusiasm and interest, and even when things become difficult, they keep working hard to achieve their goals.

The best thing about being a teacher is getting to know the students. As well as teaching them English, I can learn a lot from my students about all manner of things.
Which levels do you enjoy teaching?
My favourite level is ‘complete beginner’. You can see their progress more clearly at this level and it’s great when students also realize they’ve acquired a new skill.

Do you like Moscow? Have you visited any Russian cities besides Moscow?
Yes, I love Moscow. I think it’s a great city. I feel more at home here than anywhere else I’ve lived. The only other Russian city I’ve visited was Saint Petersburg, but I’d like to visit others when I have the money and time to do so.
Which countries have you visited (besides Russia) you found interesting? Why?
I’ve visited Germany, France, and the UK. The most interesting thing about any country is its history, how the language connects to its culture, and the architecture.
Which foreign language would you like to learn and why?
I’d really like to relearn Japanese. I’ve forgotten nearly all of it, but I still think it’s an incredibly interesting language.

What does it mean to you to be a teacher?
To me, being a teacher is about facilitating a learning process well. The main thing for me is that my students learn something new and useful in each lesson. For that, you have to have excellent knowledge of the material you are teaching, have thought about how to explain and present it accessibly before class, but also to be able to respond quickly and thoughtfully in lessons to come up with good solutions to developing situations. Ultimately, a teacher's role is to help students develop the knowledge and skills they need to achieve their life goals, and I believe the main characteristics required for that are responsibility, hard work, a good understanding of your students and, sometimes, creative thinking.
What is most enjoyable about teaching?
For me this is developing a personal relationship with different types of students such that you understand their needs and are able to work with them productively. I find it very satisfying when I understand that a lesson is running well and the students feel good because they are getting benefit out of our classwork
